One of the key issues in the dialogue between reason and faith is that of original sin. This is a doctrine developed within a theological context that, like any other theological formulation, requires the financial aid philosophy. But, moreover, in this case in a special way, understanding the mystery contained within its formulation is not unrelated to what we know today about the origin of humanity thanks to the experimental sciences. Theologians, philosophers, and scientists are, first and foremost, people who at some point must confront the difficult question of the origin of evil. At CRYF, we thought it would be interesting to bring together three scholars from these three methodological fields. The goal to hold a dialogue on original sin in which the questions that naturally arise when trying to understand the issues involved in the dogma could be addressed—without any pretense of resolving them—while taking these three perspectives into account.
