On August 31, the School of Architecture and Urban Design ( School of Architecture ) held a welcome event ( workshop ) for first-year students. The future architects and designers attended an introductory session featuring Paula Esparza, coordinator of programs of study; Pablo Arza, Student Affairs Deputy Director ; and Carlos Naya, the School’s director .
Carlos Naya described the “ School of Architecture ” as a building “open to the world” that fosters team learning and looks toward the future—“something we architects and designers tend to believe in.”
Naya noted that “head, heart, and hand” define a good architect and designer. The head represents the intellectual attitude; the heart, the interest and passion to not be afraid of making mistakes; and the hand, the “ skill ” to execute and demonstrate the acquired technique. “You will be the ones to design the cities of the future and the ways we inhabit the world,” she added.
