Let's experiment with textiles!

The project is based on the reflection of the color black; the interaction between background, body and figure.

The color black has had, has and will have an outstanding cultural and social relevance in history and particularly, also, in the history of fashion. As Bonnie English notes, "In Western society it was designated to formal evening wear from the early 1800s [...] and became popular in the 1920s as suitable after-5 wear with the introduction of Chanel's little black dresses. By the 1950s, it became associated with rebellion and the artistic, intellectual fringe but from the 1980s onwards, as a result of the influence of the Japanese designers, the color black has moved into the realm of the everyday" (p. 48). But in this brief reading, much has to be said about the referents of the Spanish tradition.

The project is based on the reflection of the color black; the interaction between background, body and figure; the experimentation of recycled textiles; and above all, the understanding of the creative process based on visual references and their reappropriation towards contemporary designs. The students of the 2nd year of design had to carry out this exercise looking at the traditions of clothing and traditional Spanish culture.
