Expansion of the Iregua River Park

The students raised the design of the area defined between the Batán riverbed and the so-called "camino del chivero".

Next to the mouth of the Iregua River in the Ebro River, the settlement of Vareia, one of the most important river ports of the peninsula, arose in Roman times. Today, the area has become the easternmost district of the city of Logroño. On the edge of the planned city (not yet fully built) appears a area of private orchards that hinder the relationship between the population and the fluvial park of the Iregua River. The students proposed the design of that area, defined between the Batán riverbed and the so-called "chivero" road. The space is a language of very fertile land that extends to the west of the town of Varea with a continuous slope towards the river.

The presence of the municipal swimming pools and the arrangement of the new residential blocks as elements in a green area , suggests the design of the area of more than 5 hectares as an extension of the current Iregua river park more focused on physical activity and recreation, meeting and use of free space.
