This February, Emilio Gil visited the School of Architecture participate in a Design Talk alongside Rafa Esquiroz, from Estudio KEN, and Javier Errea, from Errea Comunicación.
In this interview, Emilio Gil offers some insights into the role of the designer in today's context and in the profession, a discipline has "as many definitions as there are designers" and is "closely linked to society."
What do you like most about your profession?
Facing a challenge every project, solving it by developing a process and seeking objectives that are not limited to a material or formal solution. design into account the recipients of that solution and requires in-depth research, a process that increases my knowledge.
And when the solution proves successful, I feel happy about the improvement it may bring to those who will interact with that design.
What role do designers play in the context of Artificial Intelligence?
We are undergoing a profound change in the design industry. In addition to the revolution brought about by the emergence of digital technology in our profession, we are now facing the AI tsunami. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is forcing us to redefine what we understand by creation, authorship, and staff
With the advent of AI, design becomes a dialectical process in which humans are displaced from the role of executor of form, to focus on meaning, intention, and sense.

After working for years with the Prado Museum, what do you think is the importance of design in culture?
design is not only a tool, it is also an ally that works as an assistant in the museum's mission statement .
A museum is an institution directly oriented toward society. Visitors, professionals, and researchers associated with a museum need design a discipline operates in two areas: the communication and dissemination of its activities, and the relationship between citizens and the physical or digital space of those activities.
What characteristics define a good designer?
Love for their profession, interest, and curiosity are the ingredients that allow designers to develop an interesting career path.
