In search of professional success

Master's students participated in the Bootcamp organized for the Professional development Plan.

Last Friday, October 31, the Master's students participated in the Bootcamp organized for the Professional development Plan. The students received several training sessions on curriculum, incorporation into the business environment and self-knowledge. The session served as preparation for the Recruiting Day in March.

Nerea Rogel Portugal, a student of the Master's Degree in Architecture and Real Estate (MAR), gives her perspective on the sessions:

"The workshop was designed to go from the staff to the professional: first how to present ourselves, then how to face selection processes and, finally, how to position ourselves in the sector with a competitive profile .

The first part was given by Guillermo Hernánz, with two sessions: "How do I sell myself" and "Interviews: how to overcome them successfully". He explained that "selling yourself" does not mean exaggerating, but aligning what you are with what the business needs, knowing its corporate culture and showing autonomy and decisiveness. In the interview part, he insisted that companies value above all demonstrable skills such as initiative, conflict resolution and work , and that is why it is essential to know the resume in detail to justify each experience with examples.

This was followed by Alfonso Vericat, who focused on the more operational part. In "management of immediacy" we worked on a case that reflected what we will soon be experiencing: entering internships and having to make quick and professional decisions, taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the Master's Degree. He highlighted two core topic ideas for the work environment: work and empathy. In the LinkedIn session he reminded that it is a collaborative network with rules, useful to show projects, but above all to connect with people with whom we have a common nexus that can help us to enter the sector.

The CV session was position by Leire Zubieta, who stressed that the goal of the CV is not to tell everything, but to get an interview and differentiate yourself. Companies want to know what we know, what we can do and what our attitude is, so the CV must be clear, updated and adapted to the offer.

Finally, in the session on the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) with Alfonso Valero, we saw that the Master's Degree in Real Estate is the only Master's Degree accredited by two RICS itineraries, which is an international competitive advantage and differentiation.

Overall, the Bootcamp was a reminder that training is not enough: you have to know how to tell the story and respond professionally when the opportunity arises".
