The problems of depopulation and atmospheric phenomena have brought together 13 international universities to develop the exhibitions 'Architecture and depopulation' and 'Performance on the island of La Palma', which together form the 'Shared ideas' project . The students' proposals play with geometric shapes, put design and architecture in dialogue with rural areas and challenge the traces of lava.
The joint exhibition was inaugurated at the Universidad Católica del Perú (Lima) on October 22, coinciding with the visit to the country of Carlos Naya, director the School of Architecture , and Eduardo Domingo, director of development at the School. The Universidad de Lima and the Universidad Nacional Santiago Antúnez de Mayo, located in Peru, are two of the centers participating in the project.
In the exhibition 'Architecture and depopulation', depopulated areas in Venezuela, Bolivia, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ecuador and Spain become revitalized and sustainable rural territories. The proposal of the Architecture alumni of the University of Navarra is based on the rural area of Monterrei (Galicia, Spain). See presentation of projects and presentation of results.
In the project 'Performance on La Palma', students designed an inter-university campus on the island of La Palma (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain), an area affected by the eruption of the volcano in 2021. The exercise contributes to the territorial reconstruction plan being worked on by the Cabildo Insular de La Palma. See presentation of projects and presentation of results.
The project, led by the University of Navarra, is part of the Americas Forum, a joint initiative of the Pan-American Federation of Architects Associations (FPAA) and the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra. The exercise was carried out in Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) format.
The participating universities are the following: Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB) of Venezuela; Universidad Nacional Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo (UNASAM) of Peru; Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz de la Sierra (UPSA) of Bolivia; Universidad Latina de México (ULM) of Mexico; Universidad Panamericana (UP) of Mexico; Universidad Católica de Santa Fe (UCSF) of Argentina; Universidad del Istmo (UNIS) of Guatemala; Universidade do Vale do Taquari (UNIVATES) of Brazil; Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil (UCSG) of Ecuador; Universidad Católica Boliviana San Pablo (UCB) of Bolivia; Universidad de Lima of Peru; and Universidad Latina of Costa Rica.
