2nd year Architecture students discover Rome

The students visited Rome last week, getting to know the ins and outs of the famous city. Alessia Mantilla, student of Degree, tells us about the experience.

The students of the 2nd year of Degree in programs of study Architecture traveled last Monday, March 4, to Rome, where for a week they learned more about the architecture, museums and galleries of the Italian capital.

During the week-long trip, the students were able to tour Rome, visiting various iconic monuments such as the Roman Colosseum , St. Peter's Basilica, and the Pantheon. They also visited the Borghese Gallery, the Capitoline Museums and the Baths of Diocletian. In addition, they received classes at the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce (PUSC).

Alessia Mantilla, Architecture student and subdelegate of the course, tells us how she lived the experience:

In this last week I have learned that with only a pair of eyes it is not possible to capture all the color that radiates from a city like Rome. I have understood that a pair of ears cannot hear all the melody of its history and that a pair of legs cannot walk around every corner. With only my two hands, I could not feel the texture of each stone or draw the delicate fold of each sculpture.

Rome is a city that can be discovered through the joint observation of group. It has its own language, which is translated into our understanding thanks to the interpretative contribution of each one of us. The value of this trip lies in our skill to learn as a team, to share what each one absorbs and thus enrich the analysis we develop at staff.

I am grateful to have been able to discover Rome through the eyes of every colleague and teacher present. Each person discovered a hidden element of the city and of the infinite file of history it shelters. In the 5 days we spent together there we managed to construct a certain definition of the city, the meaning of which applies only to our shared experience.

The next time I'm out there my eyes will recognize all that they captured, leaving me with the richness of having understood the city from the shared vision of the team.

We leave you a gallery with the best images of the trip:
