Great Books Programme - pathway Interfacultative
The pathway Interfaculty-Great Books Program consists of taking the 18 credits of the subjects of Core Curriculum with students from other Schools and with a methodology based on discussion and colloquium from the reading of Great Books of thought, literature and history. Students learn to write and present argumentative essays. From the experience of other universities, this is a very appropriate way to achieve the objectives of Core Curriculum.
To enjoy reading and reflecting on Great Books of literature and thought.
To study in more depth the great questions of human existence
Helps develop the ability to argue rigorously and present your ideas in public.
More personal involvement in your own learning, and it fosters the student-teacher relationship.
The pathway includes "Methodology Sessions for Great Books Seminars " offered by the Writing Centre and given by Professor Aitor Blanco and Professor María José Gallucci.
The goal is to learn the basics of rhetoric, argumentation and exposition that will later be put into practice in the subjects.
In addition, the pathway offers some other optional activities such as conferences or seminars of interest. At the beginning of the course there will be an inaugurallecture on "The aims of the Education".
Those students who take the 18 credits foreseen in the Core Curriculum within the pathway Interfaculty programme will receive a specific mention in their academic transcript .
