The Newman Circle, its sources and commentators

The Newman Circle is a group of Spanish-speaking researchers from America and Europe. Each of them has been studying an aspect of the thought of John Henry Newman (1801-1890), one of the most outstanding English authors of the 19th century. The Newman Circle is interested in promote Newman's thought from the perspective of the authors who inspired his reflections, such as Cicero or Joseph Butler; or from the perspective of his intellectual disciples, such as Maurice Nedoncelle, Bertrand Lonergan or Joseph Ratzinger.

One of its objectives is to increase and strengthen the network of experts and communication to venture into the deepening and knowledge dissemination of topics related to the Education, the Philosophy, theology, history, literature ... all linked in some way with Newman.

The Newman Circle has been promoting projects such as the translation from English, or other languages, to Spanish of works related to Newman, his sources and commentators, trying to add commentaries that make it easier to understand. We promote thesis on these topics in order to be faithful to the thought of this outstanding author.

Since 2015, the Newman Circle organizes the colloquium International Newman, which brings together experts around Newman's thought, his sources and commentators. The first one took place at the Panamerican University of Mexico, in 2015, under the degree scroll "Contemporary Challenges". The second took place at the Universidad Católica del Maule-Talca-Chile, in Chile in 2017, with the topic "Science and Faith in the University". The next international colloquium will take place at the University of Navarra (Spain) on October 16-17, 2019, with the topic "La Education liberal".
