BRINGING HERITAGE CLOSER. CORELLA

From 24 to 26 August 2010
Corella Youth Creation Centre

OPENING AND PRESENTATION OF THE COURSE

On 24, 25 and 26 August 2010, the Chair of Heritage and Navarrese Art of the University of Navarre gave the course Acercar el Patrimonio. Corella, in the framework of the programme of the "X Summer Courses of the Universities of Navarre 2010", under the direction of Professor Ricardo Fernández Gracia, and with the special partnership of the Town Council of Corella.

Most of the sessions took place in the town's Centro de Creación Joven, which was packed with more than 120 people enrolled, where leading specialists in subject from the Universities of Navarre and Zaragoza, the Chair de Patrimonio y Arte Navarro and the Sociedad de programs of study Históricos de Navarra took part. The different lessons dealt with the knowledge of the cultural assets and the historical-artistic heritage of the town of Corella from the Age average to the 20th century, showing the reality of heritage as an integral part of a modern, cultured and advanced society. Using a method that combines theoretical and practical sessions with "in situ" visits to the main monumental sites of the city, such as the church of San Miguel, the course analysed the achievements that transformed the city in the Modern Age, with the Building of its parishes and convents, noble houses promoted by important lineages, together with the study of other manifestations such as the sumptuary arts or music.

The opening of the course took place on Tuesday, 24th August, and the inaugural session was held at position by Mr. Alberto Catalán Higueras, Regional Minister of Education of the Government of Navarre, who was accompanied at the table by Mr. José Javier Navarro, Mayor of Corella, and Ricardo Fernández Gracia, Director of the Chair of Heritage and Navarrese Art of the University of Navarre and coordinator of this cycle.

The Regional Minister of Education of the Government of Navarre, Mr. Alberto Catalán, opened the summer course in Corella, together with the Mayor of the town, Mr. José Javier Navarro and the director of the Chair de Patrimonio y Arte Navarro, Mr. Ricardo Fernández Gracia. The participants, more than 120 people registered, followed most of the sessions at the Centro de Creación Joven in Corella.
