PRESENTATION OF THE COURSE
The Chair de Patrimonio y Arte Navarro of the University of Navarra gave the course Acercar el Patrimonio. Photography in Navarre. Fondos y colecciones, in the framework of the programme of the "Cursos de Verano de las Universidades Navarras 2012", sponsored by the Government of Navarre, on 28, 29 and 30 August 2012.
The course, aimed at all those interested in culture and heritage, was designed to disseminate the knowledge of Navarre's photographic heritage from an interdisciplinary point of view, paying special attention to some outstanding photographic collections from public and private institutions and collections. The idea arose from various works by research collected in the recent publication of No. 6 of the Cuadernos de la Chair de Patrimonio y Arte Navarro, dedicated to Photography in Navarre: funds, collections and photographers, which came out in 2011, which has allowed the authors of some of the articles that make up the aforementioned volume, who have presented in the course materials that until recently were unpublished, as well as some outstanding collections of the Comunidad Foral.
The sessions were given at the Museum of Navarre's auditorium by leading specialists in subject from the University of Navarre, the UNED in Pamplona, the Chair de Patrimonio y Arte Navarro, the file Real y General de Navarra and the file Municipal de Pamplona.
The course was opened on Tuesday 28 August by Ms Rosa López Garnica, Director of the Universities Service and training Permanent department of Education of the Government of Navarre, who was accompanied at the table by the photographer Mr Carlos Cánovas and Mr Ricardo Fernández Gracia, Director of the Chair de Patrimonio y Arte Navarro of the University of Navarre.
The opening of the summer course "Bringing Heritage Closer. Photography in Navarre. Collections" was attended by Ms Rosa López Garnica, Director of the Universities Service and training Permanent department of Education of the Government of Navarre, Mr Carlos Cánovas, photographer and Mr Ricardo Fernández Garcia, Director of the Chair of Heritage and Art of Navarre of the University of Navarre.
