Photographic documentation at file Real y General de Navarra
D. Félix Segura Urra. file Royal and General of Navarra
The file Real y General de Navarra, as the historical file of the institutions of Navarre and the Administration of the Comunidad Foral, gathers a significant collection of photographic documentation from Navarre's institutional collections. In addition, there is an exceptional presence of photographs in various personal collections. Among the former, the Diputación Foral y Provincial de Navarra collection is worth mentioning, which combines photography of protocol and ceremonial subject , derived from the activities of the Foral Corporation during the second third of the 20th century, with a more documentary photography associated with the work of its administrative units, such as the Directorate of Roads, the Directorate of Municipal Administration or the Directorate of Tourism, Libraries and Popular Culture. With respect to the personal collections, in addition to the testimonial presence of photographs in the Victorino Aoiz y del Frago or Félix Maiz collections, there is a notable presence of photographic collections in the strict sense, such as those of the photographers Julio Altadill, José Lucea or José Velasco.
In recent years, the archival treatment of this documentation is being carried out, through its organization, description and digitalization, in order to facilitate the enquiry of researchers. In the next few years it is expected that the historical photographs that are still in the custody of various administrative units of the Government of Navarre will be transferred to fill in , the documentary collection of the former Provincial Council.
