HERITAGE WITHIN EVERYONE'S REACH. FROM ROMANESQUE TO BAROQUE IN THE AREA OF TAFALLA

PRESENTATION
The Chair of Navarrese Heritage and Art of the University of Navarre gave the course Heritage within everyone's reach. From the Romanesque to the Baroque in the area of Tafalla, as part of the cycle "Summer Courses 2005. Universidades navarras por la sociedad del knowledge", under the direction of Dr. María Concepción García Gainza and with the special partnership of Tafalla Town Council, on 19, 20 and 21 September at the conference room de Cultura Garcés de los Fayos in that town. The main monuments and sculptural and pictorial pieces of the city and the area were explained, from the rural Romanesque of the churches of Valdorba, to the parish church of Santa María and its main altarpiece - made in situ -, the disappeared royal palace, the altarpiece of Recoletas - from the monastery of La Oliva -, and the town planning and the main houses of Tafalla. In each of the interventions, materials related to the contents were provided, such as the floor plans of the buildings, traces of the altarpieces with iconographic identification and bibliography in this respect. Guided artistic visits were also made to the church of Recoletas and the interior of the Casa de los Mencos.
