Vaults, imposts and stained-glass windows

In accordance with Ochandátegui's project , the windows of the canvases of the Wayside Cross were replaced by oculi, decorated with the neoclassical motif of intertwined palms, a symbol of martyrdom; this element is repeated on the walls of the corner corners, which are covered with edges. The half-barrel vaults have the characteristic neoclassical decoration of coffers, reminiscent of the Vetero-Roman style. The soffits of the four main arches are decorated with kissing motifs. The imposts that run around the perimeter of the building have a first band of ovals, immediately below the broken cornice, and a second band of rectangular modillions or mullions. Much later are the stained glass windows that decorate the three oculi of the headwall, with the themes of the baptism, interrogation and martyrdom of San Fermín; and the facets of the lantern windows, which combine the figures of the titular saint and the saints Honesto, Saturnino and Francisco de Javier, with heraldic motifs typical of the City and the Pamplona Cathedral Chapter. The work of the workshops of the firm Mayer y Compañía, based in Munich and London, the stained glass windows were installed in 1886.
