Aperregui House

The history of this house, currently divided into three parts, is closely linked to that of the nearby parish of San Nicolás. Its location at the crossroads of the main street with the one that comes from the bridge and marches towards Castilla, made it enjoy a privileged status and even became accommodation of the French generals during the War of Independence.

Gregorio Antonio de Aperregui Asiáin, promoted the enlargement of the house and the reconstruction of the aforementioned parish church between 1729 and 1733, holding the board of trustees of the chapel and feast of the Virgen de los Remedios. The current appearance of the house was acquired in the last phase, at the end of the 18th century, when Joaquín Aperregui Montesa modernized and enlarged it to bring it up to his new status after his marriage in 1797 to Josefa Elío Regalado, daughter of the Marquis of Vesolla and the Countess of Ayanz and Baroness of Ezpeleta, among other titles.
