Baroque Houses and Palaces in Tudela
Veraiz House
Next to the town hall and the then collegiate church was the medieval residency program of the Veráiz family, which even made use of the marble and other materials from the demolished castle of which the head of the lineage was governor. There is a tradition that Saint Francis stayed in this house during his stay in Tudela. Such an old tradition justified the fact that the Gothic coat of arms on the gallery was preserved in its Baroque refurbishment.
In 1768, Domingo Veráiz Magallón commissioned the reform of his residency program to Felipe Domenech and the blacksmith Manuel Barrera, arranging the main doorway at one end so that it could be better seen from the place Vieja. Two rows of three balconies on bulbous plaster feet were opened to this festive space. The building was recently demolished, preserving only the Baroque façade and the stone cellars; it now houses the Muñoz Sola Museum of Painting.
