Mur House

Berenguer de Mur y Aguerre lived in the house of his lineage on Tudela's Calle Mayor, called Rúa, which was built in the 16th century in brick with galleries on the second floor. In the 1770's several alterations were made, among them to the main staircase, which has simple rococo frames and corbels with cherub heads.

However, the greatest value of the house is the mural decoration of its main conference room . Although only two thirds of it has been preserved, it is the best example of trompe l'oeil in Navarre's stately architecture, and Diego Díaz del Valle is thought to be the author. The flat roof is decorated with false domes and garlands. The walls have murals in imitation of tapestries, being of bucolic and almost pastoral character both the over doors and the cloths between windows, with leafy gardens and fantastic architectures, in addition to a naval battle.
