House of González de Castejón

In what was known as the "Plazuela de los Castejón", the old main house of the Salazar entailed estate still survives, which in the 18th century belonged to the Soria lineage of the González de Castejón, of which Pedro González de Castejón Salazar is outstanding, who became Minister of the Navy, as well as holding other important military posts. The lineage attained the titles of marquisate of González de Castejón and counts of Castejón de Ágreda.

The building, like so many others, is the result of successive extensions throughout the centuries of the Ancien Régime, the last being the one that divided the old Bishop's house between it and the nearby palace of the Marquis of San Adrián. At the end of the eighteenth century, a house opposite was even bought in order to demolish it and improve the view of the main house. The current appearance is quite classicist, although it has been deformed by later alterations.
