Façade of the Parish Church of Santa María

The façade of the Hospital de Nuestra Señora de Gracia, built in the 17th century, was remodelled and integrated into the place as one of its four canvases, achieving a uniform aesthetic. Later, in 1940, it was modified by incorporating a series of porches on the lower floor to achieve greater amplitude. This Hospital and its church, which later became the Parish Church of Santa María, were founded by Miguel de Eza y Veraiz in 1549 and consecrated on 7 January 1575. It was located on the outskirts of the city, on the right bank of the river Queiles opposite the bridge of Albazares, near the gate of the same name, one of the main entrances to the city walls.
