Six students from the School of Theology of the University of Navarra were ordained deacons on Saturday, February 25, by Bishop Carlos Manuel Escribano Subías, Bishop of Calahorra and La Calzada-Logroño.

During the ceremony, which was held in the parish of St. Nicholas, Bishop Carlos Manuel Escribano encouraged the newly deacons to have "availability for action, perseverance in prayer and humility in service". He also reminded them that "in the present circumstances" it is not enough for them to be available to everyone, but they must "go out to meeting so that they feel welcomed, accompanied and served". A service that he said "must be always and forever".

The ordained, residents of the Bidasoa International Ecclesiastical high school , are: Luis Ernesto Acuña Ramírez (El Salvador), Francisco Velázquez Montejo (Mexico), Alam Juarez Varillas (Mexico), Luis Enrique Palacios Mackliff (Ecuador), Gerardo Antonio Esquivel Ponce (El Salvador) and Tadeo Ssemanda (Uganda).
