Four teams of four people each participated in the first phase of the International Case Competition organized by KPMG. The team formed by Fernando Sáinz de Aja, María Cristina Bravo de Lallana, Iñaki Gordejuela Senosiáin and María Errasti Ibarrondo beat the rest, and as the winner will face the winning teams from 7 other Spanish universities in the national final to be held on March 6 and 7 at KPMG's offices in Madrid.

KPMG International Case Competition (KICC) is a competition created, designed and organized by KPMG International, aimed at students from the most prestigious universities in the world.

It is a game of strategy and business vision in which, through different elimination phases and using cases similar to those used in business schools, students face problematic business situations and defend possible solutions before a panel of expert judges. The teams have to demonstrate, among other things, their analytical skills, communication skills, work teamwork, and creativity.

KICC is an opportunity for students to get a taste of the business world. The 2012 edition of KICC had the highest participation in the program's history, with 24 countries joining the initiative: Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Norway, Russia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, United Republic of Tanzania, United States and Vietnam. This year, the same level of participation is expected to be maintained.

From the national competition, which is also a knockout competition, will come the team that will represent Spain in the international final competition, which will take place at the Palace Hotel in Madrid between April 2 and 5, 2013.
