80 researchers from the University of Navarra participate in the conference of the Spanish network of Alternative Methods to Animal Experimentation.

More than 80 researchers of the area of sciences and of the research center Applied Medicine (CIMA) of the University of Navarra participate from today Monday until tomorrow Tuesd ay April 5 in the V workshop of thenetwork Spanish of Alternative Methods to Animal Experimentation (REMA), organized jointly with the School of Pharmacy of the academic center.

The conference will consist of an experimental animal design workshop at laboratory, position by Michael Festing, author of over 200 publications on animal Genetics at laboratory. Festing has been a member of UK Animal Procedures, the Institute of Laboratory Animal Research and the UK Center for Replacement, Refinement and Reduction.

In addition to this workshop, the expert will give a talk tomorrow Tuesday at 10 15 h. entitled "Genetic and the design of experiments involving laboratory animals". Previously, at 9:30 a.m., Pilar León, representative of the Ministry of Rural and Marine Environment, will speak about the novelties of the new European legal framework for the research with animals. Likewise, Guillermo Repetto, from the Pablo de Olavide University; Carles Callol, from Biobide; Maya Vilá, from Leitat; and María Jesús Garrido and Xabi Aguirre, from the University of Navarra, will also participate in the conference .
