On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus Program, the graduate of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition Amaro Sánchez Larráyoz (Far'15) participated in an event that brought together 125 national and international students in Barcelona in an event organized by SEPIE (Spanish Service for the internationalization of the Education).

All participants were students who were doing or had done a mobility from programs of study or internship. In addition, representatives from all the Autonomous Communities and representatives from the Ministry of Education Culture and Sport were invited to participate in workshops and round tables designed to share the fundamental aspects of the mobility Erasmus.

Leading by example

In the case of Amaro Sánchez, in addition to his Erasmus experience in Rennes (France) in the 2014-15 academic year, this year he has extended his international curriculum with a period of research in a hospital at Harvard Medical School in Boston. After achieving a scholarship Pre-PhD Program 2016-17, she has just returned to Spain. "In the United States I have had the opportunity to work as researcher at training in the team of Dr. Gerald B. Pier and Dr. Tomas Maira. With them I have been able to participate in projects on antibiotic resistance, bacterial virulence and development of vaccines. And even lead a project on bacterial multi-resistance that will be published soon in international impact journals".

Perhaps for all these reasons, he does not hesitate to recommend -both to future and current students- "not to miss the opportunity to experience a exchange in a center in another country". Moreover, he considers that thanks to all these experiences, in his case, he has managed to orient his degree program towards the world he is truly passionate about: business and strategic consultancy service . "In the long run deadline I would like to become an entrepreneur and unleash all this positive energy. Studying and working abroad has been incredibly enriching professionally but also at staff. So even though I have just returned from Boston, I am already counting the days to start my next adventure abroad," concludes the former student of School.
