Cardinal Blázquez presides over the 50th anniversary of the School of Theology.

"We do report not to cultivate nostalgia, but to sow hope," said Cardinal Ricardo Blázquez, president of the Spanish Episcopallecture , during the homily of the Eucharistic concelebration of the 50th anniversary of the 50th Anniversary of the School of Theology of the University of Navarra, which took place in the Cathedral of Pamplona.

In his words, the Archbishop of Valladolid recalled that "we must give thanks to God" because what was sown at the beginning of the School, "as something fragile and small" has grown over time. "We are also happy to have been able to offer fruits in the form of teaching, of writings and of presence in the Church and in society," he said. In this sense, he explained that theology is necessary to collaborate in the entrusted mission statement of Jesus Christ in the Church.

In addition, at framework he offered two reflections on the meaning of theology. The first on the importance of the union between faith and reason. "Faith and reason are the two wings with which man rises to the meeting of truth," he said. And the second, on the relationship between theology and catechesis.

Likewise, Cardinal Ricardo Blázquez thanked the professors of School for their service: "For their sacrificed, precious and irreplaceable work ".

In total, more than 150 priests concelebrated the Eucharist, among them 15 bishops from six countries: Colombia, Ecuador, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Uruguay and Spain. Among the concelebrants were the Archbishop of Pamplona, Msgr. Francisco Pérez, his auxiliary bishop, Juan Antonio Aznárez, and Msgr. Ramón Herrando, Vice Chancellor of the University.

Twelve of the bishops are alumni of the School of Theology, who have traveled to Pamplona for the occasion. Since 1967, more than 4,700 students have passed through the classrooms of the center and 237 students of 34 nationalities are currently studying there.

After the concelebration, the attendees participated in one of the four guided tours: exhibition Occidens, Museum of the University of Navarra, seminar International Bidasoa or a tour of the new buildings of campus of the University of Navarra. There was also a commemorative act of the 50th anniversary in the Museum Theater, which was closed by Monsignor Ramón Herrando.

The workshop on Friday, October 6, was the centerpiece of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the School of Theology, which began on Wednesday, October 4, with the XXXV International Symposium of Theology 'Theology and University'.which brought together more than a hundred experts.
