The academic leaders have addressed issues such as the revision of the criteria of accreditation professor , the Social Security contribution for internships at Degree or the accreditation of the Schools Spanish so that their graduates can study at specialization program or practice in the United States.

"More and more students are choosing to do their specialization program to develop their profession in the United States. For this reason, we propose that all the Spanish Schools of Medicine can benefit from a single, homogeneous and coordinated procedure by the National Agency of assessment of the Quality and accreditation (National Agency for Assessment of Quality and Accreditation) to obtain this international seal, without forgetting that the United States has set as deadline 2023 to have the accreditation", explains Dr. Secundino Fernandez, Dean of the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra and secretary of the lecture.

This is the first time that a meeting of this subject has been held in a non-state university, as well as the first time that the academic center of Navarra has hosted a national assembly of deans. "As School of Medicine, we are proud to host the National Assembly precisely in the year of our 65th anniversary," says Dr. Fernandez.

Improvements in the examination spanish medical residency program and access to the specialization program

For her part, the Deputy Director General of Professional Organization of the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare, Mª Ángeles López Orive, shared with the deans possible improvements for the successive calls for the Resident Internal Medicine exam (spanish medical residency program) and medical specialties such as the increase in the number of places offered and the revision of some criteria to facilitate access to the specialization program for recent graduates in the Schools of Medicine.

The deans took the opportunity to express their desire to give more value to the academic transcript when it comes to accessing the specialization program (it now accounts for 10%).
