"What is the meaning of being an architect today?" asked architect Riccardo Vannucci to the students of the Master's Degree in design and management Environmental Buildings (MDGAE) at the School of Architecture during a lecture, which he titled 'For an Architecture of Reality'.

"It is important to underline the interest of a research internship on the limits of the architect, because currently his status is not so bright ─admitted Vannucci─ but sometimes we overestimate the relevance and impact of what we do. I think it is my duty to do my best to establish new positions for the future."

The architect explained his work in the field of international cooperation and emphasized that his aim is the production of spaces and quality architecture, "important projections, because the constructions are very simple".

Through images, he showed some of his work in Africa. "We can't forget that we operate in poor places and with difficult weather conditions," he recalled as he pointed to simple, compact buildings.

Vannucci assured that it was necessary to identify the function of those bricks, which once gathered together would become the social focus; a place for meeting, for holding events. Identifying the use that the building will have requires a previous research , where other factors must be considered, such as "the safety of women", because, as she indicated, it is necessary to know the culture and its people: "We have to pay attention to reality".
