Elías Benito, graduate in Industrial and Galenical Pharmacy, tells his experience after completing the specialization program
After studying at the University of Navarra, she works at Novartis as a life cycle management officer.
Why did you choose this specialization program?
I chose specialization program in Industrial and Galenic Pharmacy at the University of Navarra because I thought it was a great opportunity to get to know the world of the industry, from the point of view of development galenic, topic which is superficially treated during the degree program of pharmacy. In fact there is no discipline that shows how it works, how to work, how to get by in the pharmaceutical industry...
What do you think of your choice after finishing it?
Studying this specialization program meant entering an unknown and at the same time challenging world. I definitely think it was the right choice: it opened the doors to the working world. The mandatory internship took me to laboratory where I am still working now.
Why did you take it in Pamplona?
I actually took it in Pamplona because the issue I got in the exam spanish pharmacy residency program did not allow me to take it in Barcelona (my home city and residency program). But after talking to students from that year, consulting the facilities and academic staff of the School of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra, I had no doubts about taking it in Pamplona.
What do you think of the training acquired during your time as a resident in the Unit professor of the School of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra?
I consider the academic program established, as well as the professionalism of the teachers to be excellent. Both the theoretical sections, many of them carried out by professionals from the pharmaceutical industry, and the practical ones meet the expectations placed at the beginning of the specialization program. I recommend studying the specialization program at the University of Navarra both for its academic-professional content and for its staff.
What is your current professional status ?
Currently work as Life Cycle Management Officer at Novartis. Although the name is very long, my work basically consists of coordinating product transfers between different plants at group. It is a multidisciplinary world, since you have to deal with different Departments such as production, registration, logistics, quality, purchasing...
