A group of 63 students of Medicine, Pharmacy and Human Nutrition and Dietetics of the University of Navarra attended a session on new biomedical applications for iPad, iPhone or Android, organized by the classroom of Pharmacy internship of the academic center.

According to Professor Idoia Beltrán, biomedical applications for healthcare experts"allow users to access information quickly and from anywhere. In addition, there are instructions of data very complete drug and pharmacotherapeutic data sheets of active ingredients, interaction identifiers or pill identifiers, pediatric dose calculators for many drugs, as well as applications for accessing clinical guides or searching for articles in Pubmed".

On the other hand, the specialist from the School Pharmacy points out that the new mobile devices "can have applications that help to learn how to react in an emergency, medical calculators to assess different parameters of renal function or cardiovascular risk, etc.".

The students who attended the session were able to familiarize themselves with applications that simulate an atlas of Anatomy or interactive games to introduce them to this area in a fun way, detect problems such as hypertension through high-resolution images, didactic material to explain status to the patient, improve communication between the professional and the patient, etc.

The Pharmacy classroom internship continues its educational activity with two lectures on baby feeding and breastfeeding -open to the general public- and basic concepts of phytotherapy -for Pharmacy, Medicine and Nursing students-, which will take place on March 20 and 27, respectively.
