BMW joins the Museum's academic training with the sponsorship of the Diploma in programs of study Curatoriales

This new partnership promotes the academic preparation of future professionals in the fields of curatorship and artistic project management.

BMW will be the sponsor of the Museum's Diploma at programs of study Curatorial, focused on training university students as future curators or directors of art projects and centers. "Our project has been made possible thanks to the support of many individuals and companies. To now have the backing of BMW, a leading automotive brand worldwide and one that has also been committed to art for 30 years, in an initiative as differential as ours is very significant," said Jaime García del Barrio, director of the Museum. The signature of this partnership agreement shows the commitment of both institutions for the interdisciplinary and international training of new artistic curators with great projection in the art world and for the promotion of art as a means of expression and communication. "At BMW we have been committed from the beginning to innovation, artistic creation and the dissemination of art; one sample of this, is the award BMW de Pintura with which we want to convey our commitment to art as a means of expression and communication. This new step we have taken together with the Museo Universidad de Navarra shows once again that at BMW we firmly believe in the ability of talent and, in this case, artistic talent to transform reality and improve it," said BMW's Marketing Director , Rafael Alférez.

BMW's partnership brings with it a novelty within the Study program of diploma with the development of a project in the form of a case study for the award BMW de Pintura, which has been consolidated since its creation in 1986 and over 30 editions as one of the most prestigious awards in Spain. The students will have to work individually on the case study that will be the protagonist of the competition. This competition, under the slogan "We share with you the passion for art", is aimed at promote art in general and painting in particular, through the cultural dissemination of the works and the finding of new talents. The award BMW de Pintura has counted with the participation of more than 20,000 artists of diverse nationalities and of all styles and tendencies. In the last edition, Ángeles Agrela, was the winner, in an edition in which more than 1,000 artists participated and submitted a total of 2,300 works to the competition.

With its sponsorship, BMW thus becomes the main promoter of the professional degree program of the students who will study this diploma. Therefore, it supports the development of skills such as design and management of exhibitions, cultural projects, collections, museums and cultural heritage, as well as art consulting, art criticism in the media, and work in the art market with cataloging or appraisal of works.

The two previous editions of diploma of 60 ECTS credit (33 are mandatory and 27 are optional) brought together about 40 students from different university careers such as Education and Psychology, Architecture, Communication, and Philosophy and Letters. The diploma has a wide theoretical training but also internship that is developed through workshops or meetings with artists and important personalities in the art world such as Tania Pardo, Fernando Castro Flórez, Olga Fernández, María Fernández Sabau, Daniel Pitarch, Nuria Enguita and Sergio Rubira, among others.
