The University has signed a partnership agreement with the Government of Navarra, with the goal to launch a pioneering program in Spain to help university professors to create companies.

As explained by Lourdes Goicoechea, first vice-president and councilor of Economics of the regional government, the program aims to take advantage of the potential of the research carried out in the university environment to create companies that generate highly qualified employment through the transfer of the results to the business environment.

Thus, the program has two ways: on the one hand, direct financial aid to university professors who transfer the conclusions of their work to companies that commercialize them, the amount of which will be 3,630 euros per year for each professor participating in the business, up to a maximum of 18,150 euros for 5 professors. On the other hand, the granting of participative loans for the value of the initial investment (up to 40,000 euros) under advantageous financial conditions, with a maximum repayment period of 6 years and a 2-year grace period. Both measures are complementary.

In the last four years, 3 companies have been created whose origin has been the work of research developed by the University of Navarra. goal With the program now presented, the Regional Executive has set the goal of doubling the rate of company creation, so that within three years the university research will have been the genesis of at least 30 new entities in which 70 graduates work.

Companies owned by professors and framed in the green, talent and health Economics

The call is open to all full professors or professors of the University who have a minimum participation of 7% in a business arising from their scientific work.

The activity of the subsidized companies should be focus ed on the areas ofEconomics talent, Economics green and Economics health, three of the current strengths of the productive system of Navarra, which form the axes of the Moderna Plan.

Another essential criterion for access to the program will be the creation of employment.
