The School of Architecture closes the exhibition "arcVision Prize - Women and Architecture" promoted by FYM Heidelberg Cement Group.

The sample gathers the projects of 16 women architects who participated in the international award arcVision Prize during 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The School of Architecture of the University of Navarra hosted from December 12 to January 18 the exhibition "arcVision Prize - Women and Architecture" which sample the projects of 16 women architects who participated in the international award arcVision Prize, sponsored by FYM Heidelberg Cement Group during 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The arcVision Prize is an annual award aimed at women architects whose work of research and development reflects excellence and special attention to core topic issues in building construction, and which provides a distinctive and powerful expression of social environmental values and economic sustainability.

Among the selected architects are Aitzpea Lazkanoformer student of the School and candidate of award in 2014 for her projects in San Sebastian, UBA House and House of culture and high school of Human Rights in the Palace of Aiete. Aitzpea states that "in the work I have never felt like a `woman architect' but exclusively an `architect'. This accredited specialization of award ArcVision is, in fact, a recognition of the work team of which I am a part".

Women and architecture

During the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by about 50 people, Miguel A. Alonso del Valdirector from the School of Architecture, thanked FYM Heidelberg Cement Group the opportunity and the facilities offered to bring this exhibition to the University, as well as its involvement in this topic, promoting a award dedicated to women who are working in the field of architecture with a relevant academic projection professor .

The Vice President from academic staff, María Iraburupresented some data that reflected the lack of presence of women in certain professional fields, including architecture. Ana Sánchez-Ostizassistant director of academic staff and research at the Schoolemphasized that "in the School We aspire for each student architect to become the best architect she could be", and that from the very beginning of her career, she would be the best architect she could be. the University is working to ensure that the percentage of women in the field of architecture continues to grow progressively.
