Mariano Barbacid and Teresa Ramón y Cajal, among the speakers at the congress International Student Oncology Conference

350 students from 20 Spanish sites Schools meet at the University to deepen the integration of science and technology in the fight against cancer

Biochemist Mariano Barbacid and Dr. Teresa Ramón y Cajal will be some of the speakers at the fifteenth edition of the International Oncology Conference for Students (COE). congress International Oncology Conference for Students (COE)organized by the University of Navarra's biosanitary Schools .

In the meeting, which will take place on February 21, 22 and 23, 350 students of Medicine, Biology, Biochemistry , Biotechnology, Nursing, Pharmacy and Nutrition, Genetics or programs Master's Degree, from 20 Spanish universities will participate.

Under the degree scroll "Integrating science and technology into Oncology", the congress will delve into the therapeutic novelties and cutting-edge technology that are combined in the research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of cancer from the scientific, human and social perspective, and with a marked approach multidisciplinary .

Dr. Mariano Barbacid, former director and current professor of research at the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO), will address topics such as precision oncology and immunotherapy. Dr. Teresa Ramón y Cajal, from the Medical Oncology Service of the Hospital Santa Creu i Sant Pau, will speak on "Genetics and cancer: the challenge of advising patients and their families". Full Professor Also participating will be Humberto Bustince, from the Public University of Navarra, who will give the master lecture "Artificial intelligence and science of data in today's medicine".

An overview of the advances in oncology.

In addition, several seminars and workshops have been organized by specialists such as "Nutrition and cancer: in prevention and treatment", "Impact of cancer on professionals and patients" and "research and innovation: how to implement them in the oncology internship ". There will also be a roundtable on the reality and needs of oncology patients with different testimonies.  

The congress International Oncology for Students is recognized by the Ministry of Health, the association Española contra el Cáncer, the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology, the research center Biomedica en network Cáncer (CIBERONC) and the Government of Navarra.
