Pablo Blanco, professor of the School of Theology of the University of Navarra, presented the book "Reading the Bible with Pope Benedict XVI". The event, held at bookshop Troa Neblí in Madrid, also included the intervention of Manuel Aroztegui, director of department of Dogmatics of the University San Dámaso.

Published by Ediciones Cristiandad, the work arose from the German edition of this anthology. As Professor Blanco pointed out, "we thought that a book with the texts of the Bible of Navarre (BUN), translated by the department of Scripture of the School of Theology of the University of Navarre, together with the commentaries of Benedict XVI, could be an interesting book to read and consult". He also explained that "Benedict XVI has been not only the pope of the word, but the pope of the word of God. From his first theological programs of study , he has always paid much attention to Scripture and, as pope, he also commented on many passages of the Bible".

Addressed to a general public, the book aims to transmit the importance of the Word of God and to suggest a modern reading in harmony with the interpretations that have been given throughout history: "Benedict XVI proposes a method of reading the Bible that includes not only modern exegesis, but also the hermeneutics of the Fathers of the Church and other Christian writers". Moreover, Blanco affirmed that "Pope Benedict XVI has the gift of clarity: he expresses complicated ideas in simple words, he makes the difficult easy. I think this is very well reflected in the book's degree scroll ".

In this volume, Professor Blanco provides a reflection in which he summarizes Joseph Ratzinger's ideas on the interpretation of Scripture, "a work that I have enjoyed very much," he adds. He has also reviewed the translations made by Maria Xesus Bello, professor of translation at the University of Tübingen, Germany.

Pablo Blanco is Professor of Dogmatic Theology at the University of Navarra. Philologist, philosopher, theologian and specialized in ecumenism, he wrote his thesis in hermeneutics. He is also a great connoisseur of the work of Benedict XVI.
