The University of Navarra Incubator closes its first call with almost 40 innovative projects presented in the health sector

The shortlisted startups will defend their proposals to be part of the Incubator during an event in Madrid.

The Incubator of the University of Navarra, in partnership with the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and the IESE Business School's Business Angels network , has closed its first call for innovative solutions that can add value within its innovation ecosystem with the goal aim of improving people's health. In total, 39 applications were received for innovative projects aimed at 15 different medical specialties. 

These include new CAR-T cell therapies designed to address current limitations of anti-tumor treatments; medical devices that enable effective non-invasive myopia control; new anti-inflammatory compounds capable of inhibiting cytokine storm without suppressing the innate immune response; or cryopreservation devices that provide the option of culture preservation and serve as tool for dispensing.

Among the medical specialties to which the projects are directed, the large issue of applications in Endocrinology and Nutrition, with 7 applications; and Gynecology and Obstetrics, with 5 applications, stands out. The other medical specialties to which applications were submitted were: Internal Medicine, Otolaryngology, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Urology, Allergology and Immunology, Medical Oncology, Pneumology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology and the Information Systems service.

Forum in October with the finalist projects

Until mid-September, a process of analysis and assessment will be carried out with the goal to pre-select the finalist projects that will participate on October 23rd in a meeting at the headquarters of postgraduate program of the University of Navarra in Madrid. In this forum, each startup will make a presentation and will answer questions from the attendees with the goal to select the winners that will finally access the Incubator of the University of Navarra.

In this meeting will be given quotation clinical professionals, companies in the health sector, investors and experts in business development with projects, entrepreneurs and pre-selected startups. 

During the incubation process, the selected startups will have access to mentoring and support from clinical experts and the University of Navarra Incubator itself, to the network of experts from the University of Navarra, to its knowledge and to its research and development capabilities, as well as to its network of investors.

The Incubator University of Navarra has as goal improve society through the transfer of knowledge and the application of the capabilities of the University to the market through the creation and participation of startups like these. Projects to which it can add value by identifying, capturing and promoting its development within the biosanitary sector.
