Francisco Varo and Santiago Casas, new directors of research and programs of study respectively of the School of Theology.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Ignacio Barrera, has appointed Francisco Varo as the new director of research and Santiago Casas as the new director of programs of study of the School of Theology. position Francisco Varo replaces Gregorio Guitián, recently appointed Dean , and Santiago Casas replaces José María Pardo, who will continue with his work professor and research.

Francisco Varo Pineda is graduate in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Malaga, Doctor in Theology from the University, and Doctor in Trilingual Biblical Philology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca. He joined the University in 1986, and has been director of programs of study (1995-1998) and Dean (1998-2004) of the School of Theology. He is Deputy Director of the journal Scripta Theologica.

Full Professor of Sacred Scripture (Old Testament). He has taken courses of specialization and stays of research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel) and at the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce (Rome). He has been Visiting Professor in charge of courses at the Pontifical University of Salamanca and at the School of Pontifical and Civil Theology of Lima. Member of the Spanish Biblical association and of the Spanish association of programs of study Hebrews and Jews. He is the author of eight monographs and numerous book chapters and articles in journals such as Revue des sciences philosophiques et theologiques, Scripta Theologica, Studia et Documenta, Helmántica or programs of study Bíblicos.

Santiago Casas holds a PhD in Theology from our University and graduate in Geography and History from the University Rovira i Virgili. He has been director of research of the School of Theology (2010-2016). Since 2009, he is director of the committee publishing house of the journal yearbook of Church History and since 2010 he is the director of high school of Church History, both of the School of Theology of the University.

Professor of Church History, specializing in contemporary councils and the history of the Church in Spain in the 20th century. He is the creator and administrator of the web page http://www.vaticano2.com/ which offers resources for researchers on the Second Vatican Council. He has published three books and some twenty articles in national and international journals such as Príncipe de Viana, Analecta Sacra Tarraconensia, Hispania Sacra, Jerónimo Zurita, Cristianesimo nella Storia, Revue d'Histoire Ecclésiastique, Annuarium Historiae Conciliorum, Archivum Historiae Pontificiae, Revue d'Histoire de l'Église de France
