Four new public and private grants for research at Humanities and social sciences

The ICS has obtained them from the Ministry of Education, Ramón Areces Foundation and Banco Sabadell Foundation.

Four researchers from the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS), the research center in Humanities and social sciences of the University of Navarra, have been awarded grants in public and private calls. Two of them have been granted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, one by the Ramón Areces Foundation and another by the Banco Sabadell Foundation.

Mariano Crespo and Luis Alberiko will carry out stays abroad with grants from the Salvador de Madariaga program, awarded by the Ministry of Education for senior professors and researchers. Both grants amount to 10,188 and 11,205 euros respectively. These grants are part of the State program for the Promotion of Talent and its Employability in the framework of the State Plan of research Scientific and Technical and Innovation 2013-2016 in research and development+I.

Crespo, from project 'Emotional culture and identity', will be from April 1 to June 30, 2018 at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). Luis Alberiko Gil-Alaña, from the Navarra Center for International Development (NCID), will stay at Brunel University (UK) from May 1 to July 31, 2018.

On the other hand, a project of the NCID led by Alex Armand is one of those selected in the XVI Convocatoria de Ayudas a la research en Ciencias Sociales 2017 of the Fundación Ramón Areces. It is entitled 'The reach of radio: messages of defection and the behavior of armed groups', will last two years and will be funded with 36,000 euros.

Finally, Mikel Ostiz, PhD student of group 'Mente-cerebro', has won one of the fifteen grants for scientific research for predoctoral candidates awarded by the Banco Sabadell Foundation. Endowed with 6,000 euros, it will complement the one she got in June 2017 in the call for scholarship applications for Excellence of the Caja Navarra Foundation. Thanks to them, she will be able to move forward with her doctoral thesis at the Human Computer Interaction Institute, Carnegie Mellow University (Pittsburg, USA). He will be there from March 1 to August 31, 2018.
