Ana Ruiz Varona, PhD in Architecture from the University of Navarra, analyzed in her doctoral thesis the relationships that the urban planning of the city of Valladolid maintains with the political, social and economic spheres, both historically and in a theoretical framework .

It also addressed the specific study of the urban experiences materialized in the city in the last fifty years, including different proposals that were formalized during the study and processing phases, and that for various reasons were not finally carried out.

In the work, the author explained how the most influential disciplinary currents are reflected in the urban experience of Valladolid, giving greater presence in the development of work to the system of complementary and residential uses in the growth and structuring of the city.

Finally, Ana Ruiz also focused on the way in which the growth of the contemporary city has been planned from different scales of intervention, focusing especially on the specific case of Valladolid: which planning instruments have been developed, what has been the urban dimension of the urban planning framework and the technical specifications elaborated by the administration.
