The School of Architecture organizes five conferences and three practical workshops for the Science and Technology Weeks.

They will deal with topics such as zero-emission buildings, applications of space technology to architecture, the consequences of the Lorca earthquakes and wood construction.

The School of Architecture of the University of Navarra has organized five conferences and three practical workshops on the occasion of the Science, Innovation and Technology Weeks 2011, to be held from November 9 to 17.

On Wednesday 9, Ana Sánchez-Ostiz, director of the Master's Degree in design and management Environmental Buildings (MDGAE), will give a lecture under the degree scroll 'From bioclimatic architecture to zero-emission buildings'. The following day, Professor César Martín Gómez, from department of Building, will speak on 'Applications of spatial technology to Architecture'.

On Friday 11, Professor Antonio Aretxabala, geologist at department of Building and laboratory of Building, will give a talk at the Planetarium of Pamplona on 'Architectural consequences of the seismic movements of Lorca'.

Also, Professor José Manuel Cabrero, director of the School's Wood Chair , will give a lecture on Monday 14, entitled 'Learning from trees'. The last intervention, on Tuesday 15, will be given by José Ignacio Álvarez Galindo at position and will deal with 'Chemistry and construction'.

The practical workshops will take place from November 9 to 11 and from November 14 to 17, at laboratory of Building of the School. They are as follows: 'essay safety against the risk of falls. Determination of slip resistance on wet surfaces', 'Determination of mechanical characteristics in steels for construction. essay of traction' and 'Characterization of soils by means of sounding with dynamic penetration equipment'.
