Dance and contemporary creation are once again the protagonists this fall at the Museo Universidad de Navarra with the IV edition of Museo en Danza. The series, which has the support of INAEM and the Pamplona City Council, brings together from October 2 to November 11 seven proposals from established and emerging choreographers and companies.

Teresa Lasheras, director of Performing Arts and Music of the MUN, has highlighted in the presentation of the cycle its integrating look: "The Museum has a commitment to dance since its inauguration. This fourth edition of Museo en Danza is a proposal focused on contemporary dance, in a clear and open way, without excluding contemporary proposals that come from other disciplines and mix in a very fruitful way".

Igor Bacovich, director artistic and choreographer together with Iratxe Ansa of Metamorphosis Dance, has participated in person at presentation ; and Meritxell Barberá and Inma García, choreographers of Taiat Dansa, and Albert Hernández and Irene Tena, creators of La Venidera and dancers of the National Ballet of Spain, have participated telematically. Precisely the proposal of the latter company, founded in 2019, opens the cycle this Saturday, October 2, at 7:30 pm. The proposal is a cry to heaven for all those people who suffer from Alzheimer's and for those who indirectly suffer from this forgetfulness.

"It is a Spanish dance show, always associated with contemporary dance. It's about bringing Alzheimer's disease to the stage," said Hernández, who began working on this piece based on the story of his grandmother, who suffers from the disease. For his part, Tena explained that they do not seek "to tell a story chronologically, but what happens to that person and to those around him". Both choreographers will share the stage with four other dancers and two singers, one of them in the role of Antonio, the protagonist of the piece, which reflects the aesthetics of Spain in the 1940s.

ARTISTIC DIALOGUE

On the 9th, Taiat Dansa presents Three, by Ballet Triadica piece in which the choreographers Meritxell Barberá and Inma García explore the possibilities and the visual, aesthetic, spatial and performative revolution of the Triadic Ballet of Oskar Schlemmer, the great master of the Bauhaus, proposing a contemporary piece. There will be three performances, at 12pm, 1:30pm, 7pm and 8:30pm. "We are fascinated by the heritage of the avant-garde and we have been working for a long time on the relationship of dance with other dances and what place it occupies, where the body is. So we came to the idea of making our own version of the Triadic Ballet from Taiat Dansa", the choreographers explain.

In the piece they have worked together with two other choreographers, Ismael Ivo and Rachid Ouramdane, and brings to the stage three other dancers in an environment divided into three colors: yellow, pink and black. "It was a very enriching process, in which we all adapted to make the piece homogeneous. But there are three different languages," they point out. "Our defense of the body translates into this work in that all the scenery and the powerful visual part of the show is outside, as if it were a playful project , but the dancers have absolute freedom when they enter that space. Everything is centered on movement".

PROJECT COLLABORATIVE

The premiere of CreAcción proposal by Metamorphosis Dance, will take place on November 6, at 7:30 pm. This piece is currently being developed in an artistic residency program in the Museum and will be the result of the collaborative process in which a group of people not linked to dance are working with the company, directed by Iratxe Ansa (award National Dance 2020) and Igor Bacovich. "It is a project of creation, but also of mediation and participation", has valued the director of Performing Arts of the MUN.

In the words of the choreographer, "we seek excellence in dance but within a participatory project , in which people who are not related to the world of dance collaborate. We have selected a group of people, who presented us with different themes, which we are translating together with them into choreographic material. This is the seed of the choreographic composition. It is an ambitious project that we will premiere in a little over a month." The public will be able to learn more about the process and the work in a meeting that will take place in the School of Communication of the University of Navarra on November 4, at 6:45 pm.

EQUITY AND MERGER

The Antonio Ruz Company returns to the MUN on October 16 with La noche de San Juan. The night of San Juana ballet with music by Roberto Gerhard, scenography by Joan Junyer and plot by Ventura Gassol that remained unpublished in 1939 due to the vicissitudes of the Civil War. The piece has been recovered by the Fundación Juan March, in co-production with the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.

Technology, dance and music are fused in the show The hidden resonances of the moving bodies IIby high school Stocos, the second part of a series of works that confront dancers with contemporary classical musicians on stage, with the aim of exploring the common principles underlying the creation of dance and music, goal . It will take place on October 22.

On the 30th, the Aïda Colmenero Díaz Company presents 2 de noviembre. El quitador de penas. Inspired by poems by Stella Díaz Varín (Chile) and Radio Ensueño (Spain), the work is a search for the fears linked to two essential acts of life: birth and death, and how we relate to our ancestors. A show born from project Ella Poema, which has led the choreographer to travel and explore the oral and dance tradition of different African countries.

The cycle closes with Jesús Carmona 's "Baile de bestias Dance of beastson November 11. The choreographer and dancer, awarded with the prestigious award Benois to the best dancer and with award National Dance - Creation 2020, premieres this intimate proposal in which he takes a step towards his artistic truth, towards a necessarily primary movement, with the complexity acquired over the years. In this journey he is accompanied by Manu Masaedo, singer and multi-instrumentalist.

MEETINGS WITH THE PUBLIC

Museo en Danza also brings the creations closer to the public from other perspectives through conferences and meetings. "Some performances are planned with conversations at the end of the performance with their creators," says Lasheras. Thus, a new edition of Pensamiento en danza will be held, meetings with the public in the form of lectures, talks and debates that revolve around the proposals of the cycle.

Also, as part of the series How to do things with... the following conferences will be held The Ballet The Night of St. John, by Roberto Gerhard, y Traditional African dances. Likewise, on November 12, the fourth volume of the book collection notebook de Creación will be presented, starring the project Behind closed doors and its choreographer, Jon Maya, director of Kukai Dantza.
