The University of Navarra aspires to be one of the best places in the world to study, to do research and to receive health care attendance ; a place where work is done at the service of society, and first and foremost of Navarra's society.

The initial challenge - to become one of the best universities for students to study at - has three objectives. Firstly, to attract young people from many different countries to the quality and innovative nature of our teaching. To this end, we have launched new Degrees -International Office, Marketing, design, Literature and Creative Writing, and Philosophy, Politics and Economics- as well as double Degrees and master's degrees. The result has been positive, as the issue enrollment has grown to 2,690 new students from Degree and Master's Degree (excluding ISEM and IESE), with a grade average of 8.1, 30% of whom are international students.

Secondly, we want students to value their university experience very positively. In these years, their satisfaction Degree has increased, due to the new Degrees and postgraduate programs, the tutorial, the humanistic training , the improvement of the facilities, and the Cultural Activities Office, social and sports facilities.

And third, we are concerned about the future of graduates and their employment rate. According to a study by high school Ikerfel, 92.5% of alumni of the last three graduating classes have employment or are extending their training, a figure that is growing for the fourth consecutive year.

This commitment to teaching and employability is not only endorsed by our data. According to agreement with the latest Times Higher Education ranking, the University of Navarra is first in Spain and eighth in Europe in teaching. Likewise, it was ranked issue 1 in Spain -for the fourth time- and 61st in the world in employability, in the QS 2019 International Ranking.

The second challenge is to carry out a high-level research . We currently have 103 groups of research, a total of 1,043 researchers, 104 million budget in this field and six centers, four of them located in Pamplona: the research center Applied Medicine (CIMA), the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS), the research center in Nutrition and the Tropical Health Institute. Among the main strengths of the University is its capacity to generate alliances with the public and private sectors, an interaction that allows it to identify the challenges facing society in general, and Navarra in particular.

An example of this partnership is IdiSNA (high school de research Sanitaria de Navarra), recently accredited as high school de research Sanitaria by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. It is a project with great social impact in which the Clinic, the CIMA and the University participate together with the Navarra Hospital Complex, the Public University of Navarra, Navarrabiomed and other centers linked to department de Salud. It constitutes a cooperation model with the goal to promote biomedical research , where Navarra is at the forefront.

The third challenge is to make the University of Navarra, specifically the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, an extraordinary place to receive attendance health care. In these years, in addition to other advances, we have started up the Clinic in Madrid. This center aims to become a top hospital specialization like the Pamplona site, and will allow the University to be better known and appreciated, which will attract more patients to Navarra. In these challenges, the University aspires to work with others, to join forces, to share projects.

Now ends a legislature that for us did not start well, because the Government of Navarra decided not to renew the agreement of family medicine; later there was a new discrepancy with the change in the criteria for granting scholarships to students from Navarra. However, we have found an excellent point of meeting with the Government's policy regarding support for research. The expansion of funds and the awarding of grants, based on the quality of the projects, has been very positive both for us and for Navarra to become a leading community in the Economics of talent.

The future of Navarra cannot be based on large-scale production and should not be based on competing with low wages. Our most intelligent path is through innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship. This is how the Government of Navarre has understood it and this is how future governments must understand it. We must all understand that partnership is more useful than confrontation; that it is convenient to join public and private initiatives; that it is necessary to support students who lack resources, so that they can make their desire to achieve the best possible training a reality. Thus, together, we will make Navarre, which has reached very high levels of development and welfare, one of the best places in the world to live in the coming decades.
