12. San Gregorio

At the beginning of San Gregorio Street, on the corner of San Miguel Street, a polychrome high relief from the end of the XVI century or beginning of the XVII century is preserved. The hand of the saint appears remade and not well adjusted to the rest of the image. This particularity seems to be result of the events that took place in the XVII century, when some drunken soldiers, in spite of being on guard duty, knocked down the image, which was damaged. When the viceroy became aware of these events, the soldiers were prosecuted and condemned to make public reparations to the saint.
