5. San Lorenzo

Calle San Lorenzo, 39. The niche has a framework of a certain entity, with moldings that frame it as if it were the encasement of an altarpiece. The image of St. Lawrence sample holds the Gospels in the left hand, and in the right, the instrument of his martyrdom, a grill. Inside the niche and through the glass that protects it, one can see, next to the right hand of the image, a bell of a disproportionate size for the image. Located at the crossroads of Jarauta, Descalzos and Santo Andía streets, it is in a central position in the old neighborhood of Burullería, which included those streets and was so named because it housed cloth weavers. San Lorenzo was the patron saint of the neighborhood and his niche was adorned with flowers on his feast day.
