He also emphasized that the club's policy at staff is based on "always seeking maximum economic efficiency and ensuring the optimal functioning of services".
José María García Tomás spoke about Real Madrid's current staff, made up of a core of more than 300 sportsmen and women, including soccer and basketball players and coaches. In terms of good governance, he pointed out that sports clubs must have an effective sports and economic management , and adjusted to the objectives of the institution. "They must ensure the democratic participation of their members in the election and control of the governing bodies and in the accountability process. Budgetary administration must be rigorous both in the formulation of budget and in its execution. And decisions at subject on appointments, remuneration and procurement must meet the same standards as in companies."
