The University of Navarra's School of Architecture has organized the exhibition 'Werk 6/62. A history of Spain' to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the monograph that the Swiss magazine dedicated to the new Spanish architecture and art. It meant an international recognition for these, which were unknown abroad due to the rejection provoked by Franco's regime, especially in democratic countries.

In addition, a facsimile has been published that includes a article of the architect César Ortiz-Echagüe, in which he tells the genesis of the volume, which was inspired by the report that he sent to the magazine with the most interesting Spanish architectural proposals of the moment. Werk had mentioned him a few years earlier in its pages as the winner of the award Reynolds for his dining rooms at the Seat factory in Barcelona.

"After having had certain misgivings about publishing a issue on Spain due to the fact that part of the previous generation of architects and art critics are not willing to forget the past so soon, the selection we arrived at convinced us that we could face the monograph with a sure conscience," wrote Lucius Burckhard, director of Werk at the time, in one of the letters to Ortiz-Echagüe that are preserved in the file General of campus.

The sample is part of the VIII International congress of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra, which in this edition deals with 'Architecture magazines (1900-1975): chronicles, manifestos, propaganda'. Speakers from Spain, Italy, USA and Chile will take part.
