The students of the subject "Spanish Contemporary Art" make a curricular trip to Madrid.

They have visited the Museo del Prado and the Reina Sofía to get up close and personal with the works and authors studied in class

Twenty-five students of the subject "Spanish Contemporary Art", which is taught in the Degree in History and in the double Degrees of History and Journalism and International Relations and History, have made a curricular trip to Madrid to analyze live the works studied in class.

In the first workshop, they visited the Museo Nacional del Prado, where they toured its nineteenth-century painting rooms, from Goya's 2 and 3 de Mayo to Sorolla's Valencian beaches. They also visited the painters of the Academicism and Romanticism, as well as the great compositions of History Painting.

The following day, the group moved to the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, where they took contact with the avant-garde of the first half of the twentieth century such as Cubism, Expressionism and Surrealism, by artists such as Picasso, Juan Gris, María Blanchard, Gutiérrez Solana, Dalí, Miró, Óscar Domínguez, Maruja Mallo and Ángeles Santos.

This activity makes it possible to put on internship a methodology in which the students themselves explain the works to their classmates, after preparing the exhibitions in groups, during the weeks prior to the trip. It also "provides them with an overview by contextualizing each piece in its exhibition speech , as well as the possibility of assessing the different museographic proposal of both museums," explains Professor Javier Azanza, manager of the subject, who has also expressed his gratitude to the students for their involvement in the project.

In the next few days, there will be a common sharing at classroom in which each group will make a general evaluation of the content that has been assigned to them. Afterwards, they will establish a dialogue that will contribute to enrich the knowledge of the subject.
