The University is looking for volunteers to study the mobility cycling in Pamplona.

The European Life+Respira project aims to reduce the air pollution to which urban cyclists and pedestrians are exposed.

The University of Navarra is looking for people to form a team of 75 volunteers who will participate in activities such as goal to study the mobility urban cycling in Pamplona.

The Life+Respira study, which is supported by the European Union's LIFE financial instrument, aims to demonstrate that the urban air pollution breathed by cyclists and pedestrians in Pamplona can be reduced by introducing measures from design and urban planning, management from mobility and the use of new technologies.

Life+Respira is a project led by the University of Navarra with the participation of the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medio Ambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT), the public business management Ambiental de Navarra, and with the collaboration of business Pavimentos Tudela. It will last until May 2017.

The team of volunteers seeks to involve the citizens of Pamplona in this initiative, which will also include other activities of participation and dynamization, as proposed by the European Union in its environmental policies. The greater this involvement, the better the results of project whose purpose is also to demonstrate the benefits for health and the environment of sustainable mobility .

Two groups of volunteers

Two groups of volunteers will be formed to carry out the study. The first group, made up of 25 people, will be in charge of counting the number of cyclists at strategic points in the capital of Navarre, as well as collecting data qualitative data from cyclists. The second group will be made up of fifty volunteers, also regular urban cyclists, who will install a sensor on their bicycles to measure pollutants in the air.

Both groups will receive advice and training through conference and courses, as well as the necessary materials and equipment to be able to perform these tasks. A specific calendar of dates for the collection of data will also be established. The actions will begin at the end of this year.

Logo contest

In parallel to the start of the campaign for the search of volunteers, a contest has been launched to design the logo of project Life+Respira whose award will consist of a bicycle valued at 500 euros. Entries can be submitted until September 30 via e-mail to life.respira@gmail.com. The instructions of the contest can be consulted on its Facebook page. Anyone over 16 years of age can participate .
