A new edition of the specialization program in Industrial and Galenic Pharmacy of the University of Navarra begins.

The new edition of the Officialspecialization program in Industrial and Galenic Pharmacy (EFIG) offered by the School of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra is starting. It is the XII Promotion composed of nine students, issue of places allowed per year by the Ministry of Education and Health since 2005. To date, more than 100 students (including current students) have benefited from this training in the academic center of Navarra.

The EFIG is developed in two years. During the first year, students are trained at the professor Unit of department at Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology. They follow a theoretical program consisting of classes, seminars and lectures by national and international experts and professionals in the sector. During this time they also take an individualproject of research galenic, a practical program in the Pilot Plant of the Unit professor, and attend a professional congress of the pharmaceutical industry.

The second course is designed for a one-year internship in an industrial pharmaceutical plant in pharmaceutical laboratories such as Cinfa, Ferrer, GSK, Lilly, Novartis, Reig Jofre and Roche, among others.

According to Fernando Martínez, manager professor of EFIG, this training prepares students"to work in relevant positions in the pharmaceutical industry at Departments such as: production, technical management, quality control and assurance, preformulation and research and development galenic. They can also occupy positions at public administration, within the Spanish Medicines Agency". A range of possibilities that is reflected in the high employment rate of the specialists, which stands at 100%.
