On Wednesday, September 29, in the classroom 30 of Central Building, overflowing with students, doctoral students and professors, took place the first of the seminars of department of Philosophy. Professor Ricardo Piñero, Full Professor of Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts, inaugurated this edition with a beautiful discussion paper entitled "Living in Beauty".

At the beginning of the session, an image of the book degree scroll that Professor Piñero has published this year was displayed in front of the audience. A black and white image, some garlic and outside approach, the smile of a woman. "The real story of this text is that it was a gift for my wife -he commented-; this year we are celebrating 25 years of marriage".

During the talk, Full Professor expressed his concern about "the dismemberment of art": many believe that, in order to make art, they can do without beauty. This transcendental disintegration is very relevant, not only for those who dedicate themselves to aesthetics, but also for any person.

Between snippets of his childhood and married life, Professor Piñero guided the audience through the Eternities of Juan Ramón Jiménez, the travels of framework Polo - "many expeditions set out in search of the name of beauty"-, the texts of Pseudo-Dionysius Areopagite, the Pantocrator of Taüll, the annunciation of Fra Angelico and that of En Joong Kim. Piñero argued that beauty, being a transcendental and therefore a theonym, is "[...] the core topic vault of a way of dwelling on earth."

The last question, posed by a student, was precisely about how to live in this way: how can we live in beauty?" It's very simple - he answers with a smile -: stop and look".
