An entire workshopfocused on biomedical research brought together more than 300 students from the School of Medicine, who met quotationon 30 March to address from different angles the research activity that is promoted from the Departmentsand centres of the University. "Throughout the Degree, the students of the Schoolhave the opportunity to participate in different projects of research, so, with this workshop, we wanted to give visibility not only to the researchthat they carry out, but also to what it has meant for the protagonists", explains Dr. Gema Frühbeck, Vice-Dean of research. "Doctors have to have researchin our DNA, as it is the only way to improve diagnoses and treatments for patients, so we also want to foster this passion for science in our students from the very beginning.

Thus, the first edition of the "Research Day" began with a lectureto positionby Dr. Eduardo Anitua, a specialist in stomatology and passionate about research, who told how he lives the scientific process in a session entitled "From intuition to evidence". "He stimulated the spirit researcherof all of us, impacted us with science... and even made us cry with some of the patients he taught us", confessed Dr. Felipe Prósper, director of the areaof Cell Therapy and co-director of the Haematology Service at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. 

In addition, the students were able to hear first-hand the experiences derived from the Final Projects Degreedefended last year, and carried out from the approaches of researchbasic, clinical, epidemiological and translational, in University centres such as the high school of Tropical Health (ISTUN), the Clínica Universidad de Navarra or the School.

On the other hand, different meetings were organised with professionals dedicated to researchin different areas such as paediatric tumours, clinical trials, liver transplantation, Parkinson's disease, immunology or biomedical engineering, among others. "Twelve specialists in different areas were available to the students, so that they could get to know more closely and ask questions in a more informal way about their daily workand their experience in this field," says Dr. Frühbeck.
